Swallow Ceramic Dessert Plate

Room aesthetic: French Country, Cottage Kitchen, Modern Vintage

A small blue swallow painted off-center on white ceramic, with a raised relief running around the rim. It's the kind of plate that looks like it came out of a French flea market rather than a box, and it reads that way on a table too. Two shapes: a 5.9 inch round and a 9.4 inch oval.

Why You'll Love It

• The swallow is the whole design. One small bird off to the side does more than a busy floral border would, and it's what makes this read as french country kitchen decor and not generic white dinnerware.
• Style it against wood and linen. Warm wood, a raw linen napkin, and a dried flower or two; the relief rim needs matte texture around it, and it disappears next to glossy modern tableware.
• Two shapes that do different jobs. The round 5.9 inch is dessert and pastry size, and the oval 9.4 inch handles a full breakfast or a cheese plate you're actually sharing.
• Ceramic with a raised rim. The embossed edge catches light and gives the plate a shadow line, and that's why it'll photograph better than a flat rim.
• Microwave and dishwasher both fine. A lot of hand-painted looking tableware makes you baby it, and this one goes straight in with the rest of your dishes.

It sits naturally beside the Teddy Bear Mug for a slow breakfast, and the Strawberry Glass Cup keeps the same soft European table going.
